News sources everywhere are concerned regarding a projected second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak. The number of daily cases are increasing exponentially and so is the infection rate. The big question is did you do your part when you had the opportunity to prevent this second wave? Did you wear your masks everywhere you went? Did you observe social distancing? Did you avoid going to busy places? Did you wash your hands regularly and sanitize?
According to the CDC, Tennessee has recorded a positive test rate of 11.4% and an average of 2,379 new confirmed cases are recorded per day with an infected person potentially infecting 1.02 other people. At this point, educating ourselves on preventive measures is the least we can do for ourselves and our community. Here are some important measures to be taken:
Wear your masks regularly: The importance of wearing your masks wherever you go cannot be over emphasized because this has been an effective and critical preventive measure from the spread of the virus. If you find yourself in a public place where six feet social distance between us and others is difficult, please mask up.
Social distancing:In situations where wearing a mask is difficult due to health issues, six feet social distancing must be maintained between us and others, frequent hand washing must be practiced, and use your sanitizers often. These measures will help slow the spread of the virus.
Avoid crowded areas:At this point, it is important we avoid crowded places such as bars, gyms, restaurants (if possible) and gatherings should be restricted to 10 people with reasonable social distancing.
Eat, exercise and rest well:Ensure you eat enough fruits and vegetables to boost your immune system, go on walks regularly and dedicate enough time for your body to relax. A healthy body is a healthy mind.
