Why You Need an MBA Degree

tsucobmba

As I created an account on Business Cas to begin my application process, I paused for a minute to ask myself why I needed to get an MBA… what do I need it for? Why do I have to stress myself balancing work and school just to get an additional qualification or certificate? What do I stand to gain? All these questions flooded my mind, but no one was there to answer my questions. I am sure at one point or another you might have asked these same questions… Good news!!!! I am here to share with you 5 important reasons why you should get an MBA.

1. You develop advanced and flexible management skills

One of the most important reasons for getting an MBA degree is to develop the skills necessary to advance your career and to ensure that your company remains successful. Obtaining an MBA degree forces you to get out of your comfort zone, explore the latest International Business trends, apply the newest management tools and techniques, and challenge yourself to improve your critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork through several case studies taught in class. An MBA is also a great way to prepare for a changing business environment. The abilities you develop will be the best tools you have to adapt to the unavoidable change of industries, the marketplace, and the ways people do business.

2. Access to an extensive business Network

As an MBA student, you will be given great networking opportunities. You will interact with fellow students, professors, teaching staff, and knowledgeable guest speakers in your area of study which expands your business management capabilities. In addition, you gain access to the extensive alumni network of your MBA program or concentration. The connections you make will give you a great overview of the business world. Be ready for a deep understanding of the slightest changes in the business environment and discover new ways to adapt fast. 85% of all jobs are filled via networking.

3. MBA salaries are some of the highest on the job market

I am sure you may have taught about the cost implications of getting an MBA degree, the good news is that the benefits outweigh the costs! Job security, high salary, and being relevant are some of the benefits that come with an MBA degree. If you are also wondering what you can do with an MBA degree or what MBA jobs are available, here are some popular career choices: business operations manager, management analyst, market research analyst, top executive, HR manager, etc.

According to the QS Jobs & Salary Report, an MBA degree holder earns 102,100 USD per annum. In other words, those with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree tend to enjoy a higher pay scale than those who hold “just” a bachelor’s degree. In two or three years, you cover the investment made with your MBA education.

For candidates who have less work experience, being able to put your MBA on a job application can make a resume stand out!

4. Transferable skills

Much of the knowledge and hard and soft skills you gain from earning your MBA is applicable across many industries. You become more skilled and versatile regardless of your industry or job title thanks to widely applicable qualities like leadership, critical and analytical thinking, creativity, and communication. Unlike career-specific advanced degrees like a teaching credential or a medical degree, an MBA can transfer easily to many industries and offer you a wide array of careers throughout your life.

5. Increased self-confidence

Increased confidence is one of the highest-weighing and most important nonfinancial benefits of earning an MBA degree. The feeling of accomplishment, education, and skillsets gained by earning an MBA degree can improve anyone’s confidence as they make their way through the business world and through life. When you earn this degree while also balancing work, family, social life, and other personal commitments (and not losing your sanity) you will find an immense sense of reward and personal achievement.
